A tragic terrorist attack on a health centre in Dera Ismail Khan District resulted in the loss of five innocent civilians and two soldiers, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations Pakistan (ISPR) on Tuesday.
According to the ISPR, the attack took place during the night of July 15th to 16th, when terrorists launched a cowardly assault on the Rural Health Center in Kirri Shamozai, Dera Ismail Khan District, indiscriminately firing upon the staff present. The attack led to the heartbreaking martyrdom of five civilians, including two lady health workers, two children, and one watchman.
The security forces swiftly responded to the attack, engaging with the assailants and successfully eliminating three terrorists. However, the exchange of fire led to the ultimate sacrifice of Naib Subedar Muhammad Farooq, aged 44 and hailing from District Narowal, and Sepoy Muhammad Javed Iqbal, aged 23 and from District Khanewal, who bravely embraced martyrdom during the intense confrontation.

Following the incident, the ISPR announced that thorough sanitization measures were being undertaken in the area to ensure the elimination of any other potential threats. The ISPR reaffirmed its commitment to bringing the perpetrators of this heinous and cowardly act to justice, particularly those who targeted innocent civilians, especially women and children.
This tragic incident follows another terrorist attempt in Bannu Cantonment, where eight Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred after security forces thwarted a terrorist infiltration. The ISPR disclosed that the attack on Bannu Cantonment was carried out by the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, operating from Afghanistan.
These distressing events underscore the ongoing threat posed by terrorism and the immense sacrifices made by civilians and security forces in the fight against terrorism.
