Trump Signals Possible Resumption of US-Iran Talks in Islamabad

[post-views]

US President Donald Trump has indicated that negotiations between Washington and Tehran could resume within the next two days, with a strong possibility of returning to Islamabad as the venue. Speaking to The New York Post, Trump suggested that Pakistan had become a preferred location due to what he described as effective facilitation by the country’s leadership.

He hinted at personally joining the US delegation for the next round, though details about the negotiating team remain unclear. Trump also expressed dissatisfaction with reports that Washington had proposed a 20-year suspension of Iran’s uranium enrichment, reiterating his firm stance that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons and cautioning against any arrangement that could be perceived as a concession.

The remarks follow initial talks held in Islamabad, which marked the highest-level engagement between the US and Iran since the Iranian Revolution. Although the discussions ended without a formal agreement, they did not collapse, leaving room for further dialogue.

Pakistan continues to play a central mediating role, engaging global partners to sustain the fragile ceasefire brokered on April 8, which is set to expire on April 22.
