‘Unknown number calls’: PTI demands COAS to preserve institution’s impartiality

Senior Vice President of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Fawad Chaudhry claimed Tuesday that the party’s lawmakers in Punjab were allegedly offered bribes from “unknown numbers” to switch loyalties and urged Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir to launch an independent investigation into the matter.

“The new army commander is apolitical, and the institutions are not backing any specific party in the nation,” Chaudhry said after meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan at a news conference in Lahore.

“Unfortunately, our Muzaffargarh MPAs told the previous prime minister that they got calls from unknown numbers and were given payments to switch allegiances,” he continued.
