Zardari stresses greater cooperation with China

President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized Pakistan’s desire to benefit from China’s advancements in agriculture, communication, space technology, and industry due to its close geographical ties with the country.

In an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) during his recent visit to China, which was later broadcast on national television, he stated that Pakistan has always viewed China as a trusted friend that does not interfere in other countries’ affairs. He stressed that China’s rapid progress should not be a cause for concern for the world.

Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong relationship with China, highlighting its unwavering support for the Chinese leadership and people. He noted that Pakistan aims to maximize the benefits of China’s technological and industrial advancements through mutual cooperation.

Regarding agriculture, he pointed out that China’s expertise could help Pakistan improve its per-acre crop yield. He also mentioned Pakistan’s interest in leveraging Chinese space technology to enhance its capabilities in various fields, including water management and climate change solutions.

Discussing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Zardari expressed satisfaction with the progress of connectivity and infrastructure projects, which are transforming Pakistan’s economic landscape. He revealed that recent discussions with Chinese officials focused on industrial development, including the establishment of industrial parks specifically for Chinese businesses. These parks would be operated by Pakistani laborers, while Chinese executives could manage operations remotely.

Zardari described the Pakistan-China relationship as an “all-weather friendship” built on trust, goodwill, and mutual respect. He praised President Xi Jinping as a strong and steadfast leader, acknowledging his contributions to China’s advancements in various fields.

He also emphasized that the bond between Pakistan and China is centuries old, rooted in history, culture, and mutual trust. He pointed out that Chinese people have never been involved in global conflicts or acts of aggression, stating, “China has never been an occupier.”
