Pakistan has welcomed Kuwait’s ratification of the Defence Cooperation Agreement signed between the two countries in 2023, calling it an important step towards strengthening their long-standing military partnership.
Responding to media inquiries on Wednesday, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Kuwait’s approval of the agreement demonstrates the commitment of both nations to expand defence cooperation and enhance their strategic security relationship.
He said Pakistan and Kuwait have maintained close defence ties since the early 1980s, and the newly ratified agreement will establish a structured framework to broaden collaboration across various military fields.
According to the spokesperson, the agreement includes cooperation in military training, professional education, joint exercises, exchange of expertise, and other areas that both sides may agree upon in the future.
Andrabi noted that the framework would deepen institutional coordination between the armed forces of Pakistan and Kuwait while reinforcing their decades-old defence partnership.
He added that both countries remain committed to implementing the agreement in accordance with its provisions, further strengthening relations built on mutual confidence, shared interests, and sustained institutional engagement.
The spokesperson also expressed confidence that closer defence cooperation would contribute to regional peace, security, and stability.
Pakistan and Kuwait originally signed the Defence Cooperation Agreement in June 2023 during high-level bilateral engagements aimed at expanding security collaboration.
