Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Khan Afridi said Monday that the judiciary must shift away from a traditional court-centric system toward a citizen-centric one, arguing that the true standard of justice is ensuring every citizen has access to easy, fast, and effective justice without discrimination.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed Public Facilitation Centre (PFC) on the Balochistan High Court premises in Quetta, he said technology is merely a means of delivering justice, while justice itself remains the actual goal. A digital system, he said, is only effective when it makes justice faster, more transparent, and better aligned with citizens’ real needs.
He said the establishment of the Public Facilitation Centre represents more than the inauguration of a building or facility, it is a practical expression of the judiciary’s fundamental commitment to ensuring justice remains within reach of every citizen.
The ceremony was attended by a Federal Constitutional Court judge, Supreme Court judges, Balochistan High Court judges, the BHC registrar, members of the Balochistan Bar Council, BHC Bar office-bearers, lawyers, and senior government officials.
Earlier, the Chief Justice formally inaugurated the Public Facilitation Centre and toured its various departments to review the facilities available to litigants and lawyers.
