Pakistan has made significant progress in improving women’s rights in recent years, but there is still a long way to go to achieve gender equality.
One of the major challenges faced by women in Pakistan is the prevalence of gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, and honor killings. Lastly, it is important that all legal, legislative and substantive rights of women are executed and protected in Pakistan. On first par, as far as making laws and polices for women rights is concerned, it is healthy development, however, the fundamental obligation is the attainment of the legal and legislative rights of all dimensions. Accordingly, legislature, judiciary and especially executive branch of the government should make sure that all rights are not only respected but also implemented. Hence, it is encouraging to note that there is more awareness for women rights in Pakistan.
