Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended a reception hosted by US President Joe Biden in New York and described his meeting with the US president and first lady as “warm and cordial.”
During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed concern over the situation in Gaza, condemning what he referred to as “systematic slaughter” by Israel.
On the sidelines of the session, the Prime Minister met with various international figures, including the British Counterpart Keir Starmer, Bill Gates of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Dr. Muhammad Yunus of Bangladesh, and Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait.
Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz held discussions with leaders from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to advance Pakistan’s economic reform agenda, including a meeting with Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the IMF.
