Continued Protests Over Parachinar Killings: Sit-in at Numaish Interruption

The sit-in organized by the Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) at the Numaish traffic intersection entered its second day on Wednesday to protest the recent killings in Parachinar. The MWM had called for nationwide demonstrations to show support for the residents of Parachinar, who have been holding their own sit-in for six days.

The protest resulted in the closure of both lanes of the main M.A. Jinnah Road, where a campsite was established to accommodate a significant number of protesters, including women and children. Traffic police were on hand to redirect vehicles to alternate routes.

Leaders from various political and religious groups, along with social figures, joined the sit-in. Allama Shahenshah Naqvi spoke out, criticizing both federal and provincial governments for their failure to ensure peace in Kurram. He accused the authorities and security agencies of making empty promises without implementing real solutions to restore order in Parachinar.

Naqvi likened the situation to a humanitarian crisis, highlighting the severe difficulties faced by local residents due to ongoing road blockades. He emphasized that there is no sectarian tension in Parachinar, instead pointing to internal and external enemies conspiring against the region.

Other speakers at the sit-in included Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi, Allama Mukhtar Imami, and Sheikh Sadiq Jafari. Meanwhile, a similar protest was held on Abul Hasan Ispahani Road near Abbas Town, leading to significant traffic disruptions as both lanes were blocked. Traffic police reported that vehicles caught in the congestion were redirected to alternate routes.
