Israel’s Strike and Global Order

Israel’s recent military strike on Iranian soil marks a dangerous escalation in an already volatile Middle East. Framed as a preemptive action to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions, this unilateral assault not only violated Iran’s sovereignty but also shook the fragile framework of international law. Pakistan’s swift and unequivocal condemnation was not just diplomatically appropriate—it was morally and legally necessary.

The Foreign Office rightly denounced the attack as “unjustified and illegitimate,” warning that such acts pose a grave threat to regional peace and global security. The blatant breach of the UN Charter—particularly Iran’s territorial integrity and right to self-defence under Article 51—sets a troubling precedent in international relations. If unilateral military aggression becomes normalized, global order risks descending into lawlessness.

The killing of senior Iranian officials, including Revolutionary Guards commander Hossein Salami, and civilian casualties—including children—in Tehran underscores the human cost of such military adventurism. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar’s strong words signal Pakistan’s firm opposition to this act of aggression. Their call for the international community and the UN to take immediate action is not merely rhetorical—it is a test of global resolve.

Parliament’s unanimous resolution condemning Israel for what it called a “war crime” reinforces the national consensus on the issue. At a time when the region teeters on the edge of wider conflict, collective silence is complicity.

The world must uphold the principles it claims to protect. If multilateral forums fail to hold the aggressor accountable, they risk becoming irrelevant. The time for moral clarity and legal accountability is now—before conflict spreads and diplomacy loses all credibility.
