Lahore Named ECO Tourism Capital 2027, Set to Shine on Global Travel Map

Lahore has officially been crowned the Tourism Capital for 2027 by the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), a major recognition announced at the 6th ECO Tourism Ministerial Meeting held in Erzurum, Turkey.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif celebrated the news with a heartfelt message on social media, calling it a proud moment for Pakistan. “Lahore, a city of history, heritage, and love, is ready to share its rich culture and timeless charm with the world,” she wrote on platform X (formerly Twitter). “As ECO Tourism Capital 2027, Lahore is set to become a major global tourist hotspot.”

The Chief Minister extended her gratitude to ECO member countries for placing their trust in Lahore. She emphasized that with their continued support, Pakistan—and particularly Punjab—will showcase its cultural beauty and tourism potential on the international stage.

The title is expected to significantly raise Lahore’s profile as a prime travel destination, opening the doors for increased international tourism, cultural exchanges, and foreign investment in the years ahead.
