Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the recent protests in Islamabad, praising the Army Chief for backing security forces in ending the unrest. He vowed to take decisive action against those responsible for causing chaos and instability in the country.

During a federal cabinet meeting on Wednesday, the Prime Minister emphasized the successful strategy that security forces employed to end the protests and restore peace in the capital. He highlighted the significant economic damage caused by the demonstrations, including disruptions to daily life, business closures, and the hardships faced by workers and small vendors. He pointed out that shops and factories had been shut for several days, leaving many unable to earn a living, and the stock market had taken a sharp hit.

Shehbaz explained that while the economy had suffered during the protests, it had begun to recover after the situation was resolved, with the stock market rebounding sharply. He stressed that investors shy away from unstable environments but quickly return once calm is restored. The PM vowed that the government would take strong measures to prevent any future disruptions, prioritizing the country’s economic recovery and progress.

Referring to the violent protests of May 9, which led to the deaths of Rangers and police officers, the Prime Minister noted that if the perpetrators had been punished, the current unrest might have been avoided. He commended the bravery of law enforcement agencies for their efforts to restore order during the protests.

The PM also addressed the growing security concerns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in areas affected by terrorism, urging the provincial government to focus on securing the region.

Shehbaz ended his remarks by reminding the nation of the sacrifices made for Pakistan’s sovereignty and urged everyone to value the country. He thanked the Army Chief for his full support in handling the unrest, adding that despite challenges, Pakistan’s economy is showing signs of recovery. He also criticized the opposition for their claims of election rigging, suggesting that they should answer for their own actions in the 2018 elections.

Concluding his address, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed that political disruptions would not be allowed to jeopardize the nation’s future, calling on the country to unite for the sake of national progress.
