Rana Sanaullah, an adviser to the prime minister on political affairs, said on Friday that the government is open to accepting PTI’s demands—provided the party can present a convincing case. His statement comes as both sides remain at odds over ongoing negotiations.

After more than a year of political tensions, talks between the government and PTI began in late December in an effort to ease the situation. However, discussions have stalled due to disagreements on two key issues: the formation of judicial commissions to investigate the May 9, 2023, and November 26, 2024, protests, and the release of PTI members currently in detention.

Last week, PTI pulled out of the fourth round of negotiations, which was set for January 28, following orders from party founder Imran Khan to halt talks over delays in forming the judicial commissions.

His remarks came a day after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signaled a willingness to set up a parliamentary committee to continue discussions—an alternative to PTI’s demand for judicial commissions.
