Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has praised Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts to ease regional tensions and promote peace.
The remarks came during a meeting in Islamabad with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir. Prime Minister Sharif extended his warmest regards to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, expressing deep appreciation for the Kingdom’s steadfast support for Pakistan in times of need.
Highlighting the strong and growing partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, Sharif emphasized the importance of their enduring brotherhood.
Turning to the escalating situation in South Asia, the Prime Minister condemned recent missile and drone attacks by India that have claimed the lives of innocent civilians, including women and children, and caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure. He denounced India’s aggression as a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and a serious threat to regional peace and security.
Sharif also paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces for their bravery and dedication in defending the nation, affirming Pakistan’s unwavering resolve to protect its sovereignty under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
In response, Adel Al-Jubeir expressed heartfelt condolences for the civilian casualties and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s deep concern over the situation. He called for restraint and a peaceful resolution to all disputes between Pakistan and India, in line with international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
