The rumors mill was buzzing with talk that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, was paying a visit to the United States of America, but the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has debunked those claims, calling them “groundless.” The military’s media wing took to Twitter to squash these false rumors and set the record straight.
It turns out, the COAS is actually in the United Kingdom (UK) on an official trip from February 5th to 10th, in connection with the 5th Pakistan-UK Stabilization Conference. The conference, which occurs every other year, is a gathering of military leaders from both countries to foster military cooperation.
This visit holds great significance in light of the escalating Taliban militancy and the situation in South Asia. This is General Munir’s first time visiting the UK since taking on the role of Pakistan’s powerful army chief in November of last year.
The conference will delve into the impact of the war in Ukraine on the European Union, the UK, and how it affects Pakistan. The military-to-military collaboration promises to be an impactful one as both nations aim to strengthen their relationship.
