Trump Says Iran Requests Swift Reopening of Strait of Hormuz

[post-views]

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Iran had reportedly conveyed that it is facing a “state of collapse” and is seeking the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz “as soon as possible,” as it struggles with its internal leadership situation.

In a post on social media, Trump claimed that Iran had reached out with this message, although he did not specify how or through what channel the communication was made. “Iran has just informed us that they are in a ‘State of Collapse.’ They want us to ‘Open the Hormuz Strait,’ as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation,” he wrote, adding that he believed Iran would eventually manage its internal challenges.

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding Trump’s post on Truth Social.

Separately, a US official told Reuters that Trump is dissatisfied with Iran’s latest proposal aimed at resolving the ongoing two-month conflict. The development has further dampened hopes for a breakthrough in a war that has disrupted global energy supplies, driven inflation higher, and resulted in thousands of casualties.
