Pakistan’s renowned cricketer, Wahab Riaz, has been appointed as the interim sports minister of Punjab, it was disclosed on Thursday. The Governor of Punjab, Baligh Ur Rehman, administered the oath to the newly appointed cabinet members during a ceremony held at the Governor’s House in Lahore.
Out of the 11 cabinet members, 8 ministers, Bilal Afzal, SM Tanveer, Dr Javed Akram, Ibrahim Murad, Dr Jamal Nasir, Mansoor Qadir, Syed Azfar Ali Nasir, and Amir Mir, took the oath, while three others, Wahab Riaz, Tamkinat Karim and Naseem Sadiq, were unable to attend the ceremony.
Wahab, who is currently competing for the Khulna Tigers in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League 2023, confirmed that he will be taking over as the sports minister of the province in due time.
